(PatriotsUnited.org) – North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has prompted extensive once again drawn international shock by once again overseeing massive ballistic missile tests, further ramping up tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The demo, carried out on May 31, involved several nuclear-capable multiple rocket launchers. The communist dictatorship has not just tested such missiles but it has reportedly been funneling military aid to Russia in support of its invasion of Ukraine. The pariah state has forwarded a whopping 7,000 containers of missiles and ammunition, caring little for international condemnation.
This latest test comes on the back of a thwarted attempt by the regime to fly a spy satellite towards Japan. This incident set off emergency alerts in Okinawa. North Korea’s routine military provocations continue to alarm its neighbors, shining a light on the precarious security situation in the Western Pacific. Experts say these latest launches show that North Korea’s artillery rockets are combining conventional artillery and short-range ballistic missiles via their guided capabilities and autonomous thrust abilities, suggesting a growing sophistication in its military technology.
Pyongyang argued that its missile launch was simply an attempt at deterrence and that its rocket firing drills were meant to showcase North Korea’s preemptive strike capabilities. Kim Jong Un argued that these drills were an example of how the country could act should its “rivals” “provoke” it. A long-running battle of tit-for-tat attacks between North and South Korea has been ongoing in recent months, with Pyongyang allegedly jamming South Korean GPS systems and sending hundreds of balloons filled with trash and manure over the border Seoul also recently carried out an aerial exercise which its Northern neighbor said was threatening. The North also continues to emphasize its right to seek space exploration.
South Korean officials continue to publicly condemn these developments and have threatened to resume loudspeaker broadcasts across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which express criticism of Pyongyang’s strictly censored communist regime along with details of its human rights
