Editorial Standards at Patriots United
If you’re anything like us, you’re pretty fed up with the “news” served to you every morning, noon, and night. You’re either presented with surface level garbage or anchors who think filling your hour with banter is funny, when you really need updates on the world around you. We’re tired of that, too. Our team adheres to a strict editorial policy designed to ensure you get solid news while at the same time passing a series of quality control checks.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Yea, we’re already tired of hearing about AI, too. The reality, though, is that AI has been a part of our lives for longer than most realize. That said, we don’t feel like it has any place in the world of journalism, aside from as a research tool. All of our content is well-researched and produced by living, breathing humans.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is theft. Period. Need we say more? We have a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism and, like with AI, find a violation of this type to be grounds for immediate termination from our team.
Sources
Our writers are dedicated to properly sourcing their work and will disclose their sources as appropriate. The only exception is, of course, when a source needs to be protected. In these cases, our writers have an obligation to do their due diligence while honoring their trusted relationships.
Disclosures
Everyone on our team is contractually obligated to let us know if they have any sort of affiliation or relationship that could pose a conflict of interest. Upon doing so, we will either reassign a piece to a more objective writer or do our own due diligence when it comes to making sure the finished product remains unbiased.
Freedom of Speech
Freedom of speech? Freedom of the press? We love these concepts. We also recognize that they come with a huge amount of responsibility and that they do not mean we are free from the consequences of our words. We are dedicated to providing factual information without unnecessary bias, opinion, or editorialization.
