(PatriotsUnited.org) – An elderly man has recently hit back twice as hard against an attempted theft.
A 66-year-old in Brevard County, in eastern Central Florida, dramatically turned the tables on the attempted car thief, leaving the perpetrator to nurse his bruises behind bars in police custody. According to a probable cause affidavit, the event took place last Thursday, June 17th when 29-year-old Blake Robinson tried to illegally enter a parked car near the house of the victim. Shocked by the ruckus outside his residence as Robinson loudly pulled on the car’s door handles, the homeowner quickly dialed emergency services before making his way to square up to the criminal outside.
The local Sheriff’s Office explained how the victim had defended himself successfully against Robinson, who reportedly physically attacked him, pushing him to the floor and kicking his head. Despite the brash and cowardly violent assault on him, the elderly man was largely unscathed. Meanwhile, police discovered Robinson at the scene, by the 8800 block of U.S. Highway 1 in Micco, on the ground with blood around his mouth. He later received only some minor medical attention for his injuries. Sheriff Wayne Ivey lauded the senior man’s courage, homing in on how his actions had not simply put a stop to the attempted theft, but had shown his incredible strength of character. He also jokingly dubbed the victim “Mr. Tough Guy.”
Police quickly attended the scene and put Robinson in handcuffs. The alleged criminal was given the medical care he needed before being put into the Brevard County Jail. He is facing charges of burglary and battery on a person over the age of 65, with his bail set at a whopping $30,000. This shocking event is a stark reminder of how crime can befall people of all ages, and how the most unassuming of citizens can help save the day. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently officially probing the incident.
