U.S. Military Vessels Run Ashore Near Gaza

(PatriotsUnited.org) – The pier that President Joe Biden hastily built for the Gaza Strip cost $320 million. Last week, as a result of rough seas, some U.S. military boats using the pier ran aground in both Gaza and Israel.

Two boats were imperiled in Gaza near the pier on Saturday, while the other two ended up on Israeli beaches close to Ashkelon.

According to U.S. Central Command, efforts to recover the vessels have begun with the help of the Israeli Navy, which is being assisted by the IDF.

Two imperiled ships in Israel, as seen in videos that went viral on the internet, were a tugboat and a mechanized landing craft (LCM).

The deployment of the pier to help the Gazans during Israel’s military operation against the terrorist group Hamas was announced by Biden in March.

After a thousand American servicemen were sent to inaugurate the pier last week, the endeavor has mainly been seen as a well-intended flop.

Even after a week of work, the dock only managed to unload 820 tons of supplies. Approximately one-third of such assistance was hijacked, which is why the pier was built to prevent theft.

Last week, while facilitating the transport of humanitarian aid into Gaza, three American military men were wounded in an operation.

A U.S. military official said that on May 23, a service member from the United States suffered a non-combat-related injury while serving on the USNS Benavidez (T-AKR 306), which is part of the humanitarian assistance mission to Gaza. The military man is now in serious condition after being transferred to a medical facility.

The two other military personnel who were hurt allegedly suffered from less severe wounds.

Humanitarian supply organizations have begun using the pier to deliver much-needed goods in response to international demands that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration open the region to more excellent humanitarian relief, but the process has not been without its problems.

The floating pier and accompanying causeway, also known as the Trident segment, were finished on May 10. They were moored to the Gaza coast next to the Netzarim corridor to the north.

Biden announced the pier in the hope that it would prevent hunger in northern Gaza by enabling seaborne access for supply lines.

According to the Pentagon, about a thousand United States military men, mostly from the Navy and Army, were engaged in the project. According to one U.S. military official, the cost has increased to $320 million, twice the previous estimate from earlier this year.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) social media posts from Monday showed the American pier “sinking in the water.”

However, the exact amount of water submerged inside the swaying structure is not revealed.

Well-intentioned, the pier may be soon renamed “Biden’s Folly.”
