(PatriotsUnited.org) – US President Joe Biden made a series of scathing remarks during a private fundraiser in San Francisco on Wednesday 21 Feb. The 81-year-old took aim at Russian President Vladimir Putin, his Oval Office predecessor Donald Trump, along with pro-Trump Republicans during a rant about climate change. In a lengthy statement, which was later released in full by White House press officials, Biden slammed Putin as a “crazy SOB,” and lamented the potential of nuclear war. However the US President stressed that the key existential threat to mankind was climate change.
Biden also laid into recent comments made by Trump in the wake of the suspicious prison death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Trump, who faces a slew of state and federal legal challenges, and was fined by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge for allegedly inflating his net worth, controversially compared Navalny’s plight to his own dilemmas. Biden noted his bewilderment over the comparison, given Navalny’s harsh persecution at the hands of the Russian state ahead of his recent tragic death.
Biden also did not mince his words when considering Republicans who back the staunchly pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement. He directly impugned the immorality of these voters, slamming them as possessing “very little moral compass” when it came to the issues of the day. These comments come amid rising tensions remain high both domestically and internationally as political divisiveness grows between the left and right of American politics, and conflicts rage in the Middle East and Ukraine.
President Biden’s speech was made as part of a three-day fundraising tour through California in preparation for his 2024 re-election campaign. The events in San Francisco included discussions with prominent figures and donors. Aside from being a key blue state, California is a vital place for U.S presidents to garner donations and political support. Its burgeoning tech and entertainment sectors have allowed California to remain top of the league table of U.S. states for economic revenue, having accounted for 14.69 per cent of national GDP in 2022. It is also the country’s most populous state, containing more people than the 21 least populous states combined.
