At-Risk Dems Shy Away From Biden Connection

(PatriotsUnited.org) – A slew of Democratic senators at risk of losing their seats have appeared to distance themselves from President Joe Biden ahead of their upcoming races. Nine major Senate races in the major swing states of Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana, Wisconsin, Nevada, Maryland and West Virginia, will decide which party controls the Senate. Republicans stand a good chance of victory in these runs, pushing Democrats to remove themselves from the knock-on impacts of Biden’s poor approval ratings.

Fresh polling suggests that ex-President Donald Trump has strong support among swing-state voters, making major inroads with young voters as well as the Hispanic and Black communities. At the same time, Biden’s polling has fallen to historic slumps, with many voters doubting his mental capacities. A March survey revealed that one-quarter of Democrats held reservations about Biden’s leadership abilities.

Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) emphasized her independence from Biden, stating that she does not always agree with the president and that she would not be afraid to stand up to him if she felt his policies conflicted with her state’s needs. Similarly, Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) expressed his disagreements with the administration over its penalizing of LNG and arms transfers to Israel.

One anonymous Democratic senator told press that Biden’s age is a significant concern among voters, joking that people thought the President was “200 years old.” In response to these challenges, Biden has adjusted his public appearances, walking with multiple aides and using shorter steps to board Air Force One. He also wears specially crafted sports shoes to aid his mobility, a departure from the typical dress shoes worn by presidents.

Soaring costs are also a huge issue among voters, with inflation peaking at a year-over-year rate of 9.0 percent back in June 2022 and remaining high since. The increased cost of living under Biden has significantly impacted families, with some estimates showing substantial financial losses. These economic struggles add to the burden on Democratic candidates trying to distance themselves from the president’s record. With Biden’s approval rating below 40%, Senate Democrats in battleground states are strategically separating their campaigns from his administration, hoping to maintain their seats in a fiercely competitive political landscape.
